Scalability Experts delivers an informative session on “Upgrading to SQL Server 2005” to Microsoft EPG Accounts

posted on May 17, 2008

March 17, 2008 – Scalability Experts’ Chief Architect Joe Yong delivered a presentation to more than 75 Microsoft EPG accounts that focused on upgrading SQL Server from previous versions to SQL Server 2005. Upgrading is a strong concern for many due to the retirement of SQL Server 2000 mainstream support on April 8, 2008.  Many customers and ISV’s are faced with upgrading to 2005 or risking higher support costs due to this retirement.

Customers who want extended support must sign up for Microsoft Premier Support and then agree to extended support services for SQL Server 2000. If a customer calls for support during the first year the initial fee will be $50,000. Microsoft is trying to provide as much information and support as possible to assist customers in upgrading to SQL Server 2005 and have asked Scalability Experts to present to these Enterprise Customers.

Scalability Experts has a proven methodology and a variety of services to assist customers in minimizing their risk and maximizing their return when upgrading to SQL Server 2005. The upgrade process starts by making sure your current environment is stable. Once assured of that the pre-upgrade analysis and tasks are started.
